Our Transparent Mortgage Lender Review Methodology

We are an independent review platform dedicated to helping borrowers make informed decisions. We do not accept payment from any lender for rankings or reviews. Our process is designed to be objective, data-driven, and focused on the factors that matter most to real homebuyers and homeowners.

Core Evaluation Factors

1. Rates & Pricing

We compare current interest rates, APRs, and overall costs using data from lender disclosures, the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA), and real-time quoting tools. Lower rates and competitive pricing score higher.

2. Customer Satisfaction

Aggregated from verified Google reviews, Trustpilot, BBB, J.D. Power studies, and customer testimonials. We prioritize volume and recency of feedback, with special weight on communication, responsiveness, and closing experience.

3. Transparency with Costs & Fees

We evaluate how clearly lenders disclose all fees, points, and closing costs on their websites and in Loan Estimates. Hidden fees or confusing pricing lower scores significantly.

4. Willingness to Educate Borrowers

Does the lender provide clear educational resources, rate explanations, and guidance without high-pressure sales? We review websites, blogs, tools, and customer feedback on how well borrowers felt informed.

5. Industry Knowledge & Expertise

Years in business, licensing, regulatory compliance record, range of loan products (conventional, FHA, VA, jumbo, etc.), and ability to handle complex scenarios. We also consider expert analyst opinions from sources like Bankrate and LendingTree.

6. Additional Important Factors

How We Research & Score

Our team analyzes data from thousands of borrower reviews, public records, lender websites, and industry reports. We assign weighted scores (e.g., 30% rates, 25% satisfaction, 15% transparency, 10% education, 10% knowledge, 10% other). Final rankings reflect a combination of quantitative data and qualitative expert review. All reviews are updated regularly (last major update: June 2026).

Sources include: Google Reviews, Trustpilot, BBB, J.D. Power U.S. Mortgage Servicer Satisfaction Study, HMDA data, lender-provided information, and independent consumer reports.
